Flanders and Swann / Flanders et Swann

In 1956 Michael Flanders (1922-1975) and Donald Swann (1923-1994) formed a partnership that led to a decade of performing - 2,000 live performances - and recording. And it is through their recordings, notably At the Drop of a Hat - that they live on as a unique music and comedy duo. Flanders was an actor and singer, and confined to a wheelchair due to polio, and Swann was the pianist and composer. What made their act successful was largely the witty and clever lyrics they created. One of their most memorable songs was called Ill Wind, set to the last movement of Mozart's Horn Concerto No. 4 K. 495. Another was A Song of Patriotic Prejudice, featured in in this video. En 1956, Michael Flanders (1922-1975) et Donald Swann (1923-1994) ont formé un duo qui a donné  plus de 2000 prestations et d’enregistrements. C’est à travers leurs enregistrements, notamment At The Drop of a Hat, qu’ils ont gagné leurs vies comme membre de ce duo de musique et de comédie.
