Eschenbach Conducts Mahler Sym 5 (1st movement)
Christoph Eschenbach has recently completed videos of all nine Mahler symphonies with the Orchestre de Paris. The videos are available for streaming at www.mahler.christoph- eschenbach.com. I recently attended a performance of the Mahler 5th conducted by Eschenbach with the National Symphony. I interviewed Eschenbach before the concert and part of the interview is my companion video this week on LSM. Pt. Two of the interview will appear next week, followed by interviews with leading members of the National Symphony.
Eschenbach recently stepped down as music director of the Orchestre de Paris after ten years in the position. With this orchestra he recorded all the Roussel symphonies, several Beethoven piano concertos with Lang Lang, and other works by Berlioz and Zemlinsky.
